General Guidelines
J Open & Bioscience and Environment welcomes high-quality research contributions in biological and environmental sciences. All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts should be prepared according to the journal’s formatting requirements and submitted through the online submission system.
Types of Manuscripts Accepted
Original Research Articles – Novel research findings based on experimental, computational, or theoretical studies.
Review Articles – Comprehensive literature reviews on significant scientific topics.
Short Communications – Concise reports of preliminary research results or novel methodologies.
Case Studies – In-depth analysis of specific research cases with practical applications.
Editorials & Commentaries – Expert perspectives on emerging trends and challenges in the field.
Manuscript Preparation
Formatting Guidelines
File Format – Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX.
Language – English (US or UK, but consistent throughout).
Font & Spacing – Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing.
Margins – 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
Word Count –
- Research articles: 4,000–8,000 words
- Review articles: 6,000–10,000 words
- Short communications: 1,500–3,000 words
Manuscript Structure
All submissions should follow the structured format below:
Title Page – Title (≤ 15 words), authors’ full names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, and corresponding author details.
Abstract – A concise summary (150-250 words) highlighting key objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
Keywords – 5-7 relevant keywords for indexing.
Introduction – Background, significance, and research objectives.
Materials and Methods – Detailed methodology, experimental design, and data analysis procedures.
Results – Clear presentation of findings using text, tables, and figures.
Discussion – Interpretation, comparison with previous studies, and implications.
Conclusion – Summary of key findings and potential future directions.
References – APA or Vancouver citation style, with DOIs where applicable.
Figures, Tables, and Supplementary Materials
Figures – High-resolution (300 dpi) in TIFF, JPEG, or PNG format.
Tables – Editable format (not images) with clear titles and footnotes.
Supplementary Materials – Additional data, methods, or extended results may be included.
Ethical Guidelines
J Open & Bioscience and Environment adheres to the highest ethical standards:
Plagiarism – Manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or iThenticate; submissions with >20% similarity may be rejected.
Conflict of Interest – Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts.
Data Integrity – Falsification, fabrication, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.
Declaration of generative AI in scientific writing – Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies should only be used in the writing process to improve the readability and language of the manuscript.
The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing must be declared by adding a statement at the end of the manuscript when the paper is first submitted. The statement will appear in the published work and should be placed in a new section before the references list. An example:

Human & Animal Studies – Authors must follow ethical guidelines for studies carried out in humans and animals.
Submission and Peer-Review Process
Submission – Manuscripts must be submitted via Online Submission System.
Initial Screening – The editorial team assesses the submission for compliance with journal scope and standards.
Double-Blind Peer Review – Reviewed anonymously by at least two experts.
Editorial Decision – Accepted, revised, or rejected based on reviewer feedback.
Processing Time – Peer review typically takes 4-8 weeks.
Publication Fees and Open Access
- J Open & Bioscience and Environment follows an open-access publishing model, ensuring global availability of research.
- Article Processing Charges (APC) may apply.
- Publication Frequency – The journal releases four issues per year (quarterly).
Copyright and Licensing
- Authors retain full copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish their work.
- All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives International license, allowing unrestricted distribution and reuse with proper attribution.
